Native American, Spiritual Leader of the Red Road & Indigenous Rights Activist
Vernon is a member of the Klamath Modoc / Yahooskin Band of Snake Indians, native to North America, and a dedicated advocate for human rights and indigenous peoples for over 40 years. As a motivational speaker, spiritual counselor and teacher, Vernon has shared his ancient wisdom and promoted healing and personal growth in Native and non-Native communities around the world.
As the founder of innovative programs such as "Buffalo Heart", a holistic cultural immersion project for people from different backgrounds, and "Red Road Journeys", a mentoring and travel program for youth, Vernon has positively impacted the lives of many people. He has also worked in urban communities, indian centers and social service agencies, corrections and penal system, hospital, schools and universities. More recently, he has established the Warrior´s Retreat for men which provides a sacred space where men can privately share issues that men face today.
Vernon is widely recognized and cited for his work in a variety of media, including films, television shows, radio talk shows, and leading newspapers such as the New York Times and the Arizona Republic. In addition to having received the most diverse awards, such as:
